I am a doctoral student at the Department of Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies at Columbia University in the City of New York, where I am also affiliated as a graduate student with the Institute for Comparative Literature and Society. In 2010 I finished a Masters in Art History at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. My work is mainly focused on historiography of Art History in an intercultural context. I joined University of Minnesota's art history graduate program in January 2008 after a semester of studying in the field of Critical Studies at Malmö Art Academie, Lünd University in Sweden. Strategies of representation and display in relation to contemporary art forms created in the social context of marginalized countries, more specifically in Iran, postcolonial literature, exoticism, orientalism, and cosmopolitanism are focal points of my research interests as well as issues of power and hegemony in relation to the representation of the Middle East. |
